Inuvik - The annual Terry Fox run is starting to lose momentum in Inuvik.

Town of Inuvik recreation co-ordinator Kelly Noseworthy said that the event has been short of helping hands in the last few years and donations are in decline.

"We didn't have any volunteers come out for the run," she said.

The few people who did show up helped set up drink stations along the course of the run. The group of 26 participants and sponsors brought in $955 to the foundation.

"That has been about the average for the last two years," said Noseworthy. " (But) when I first came to Inuvik, we were making about $1,600."

The event was split into three distances: the 2-, 5- and 10-kilometre run.

Noseworthy said that people were able to run, walk or ride their bikes for the fundraiser.

The event ended with a barbecue for the participants at Jim Koe park.

Low numbers aside, Noseworthy said the event went well and she was happy to assist with the fundraiser.
