PAULATUK - Students in Paulatuk who have missed hours of classes won't necessarily have to fail this year.

Angik school Principal Russ Hancock said the school has a new computer lab, which will allow students to finish assignments and earn credits.

Under the new system, students will be able to graduate from classes once all their assignments are complete. The system will cover all courses where physical attendance is not an integral part of the curriculum, such as physical education.

"We've had some students do a month of work and then miss classes. Under this system, that work doesn't go to waste. It can be used and go towards earning a credit," said Hancock.

The school purchased the 17 computers last year, and Hancock added the computer lab will be open during regular class hours.

Last year, Angik school had about 90 students, and saw three students graduate from Grade 12.
