The roads are so narrow that sometimes you just don't want to pull over to the soft shoulders in case you get sucked into the soft roadside.
Mind you there are some courteous drivers who slow right down like we did and therefore prevents flying rocks or being pulled in too close to the soft shoulders.
Nonethe ess ... the Dempster's scenery is breathtaking, like the HUGE mountains in Northern B.C.
I wonder why God never put Moses on these mountains instead. The Ogilvie Mountains are breathtaking ... but I guess Moses needed to concentrate on the 10 Commandments and not the scenery.
It's hearing that is important, not the looks, as I'm sure it could have been on the flats, plains, or hills he could have received them.
I have more appreciation and respect for the Fruit Man and those semi truck drivers who never fail to come up here, rain, snow or shine to deliver our goods on time.
A big thank you. The hours are long and the roads are winding. Like Muncho Lake B.C, and the Summit. It is narrow but passable.
Whitehorse, Yukon
My brother and his girlfriend took my husband and I up to Grey Mountain in Whitehorse.
At first I was very nervous as the road going up is very narrow and only one car can go up and if there is another car on the way down, someone has to back up all the way down or all the way back up.
My husband kept teasing me "Look Ruby, the side of the mountain is right on your side, look, there's no railings." I would just tell him, "Be quiet or I'll get out and walk" the road is very, very narrow and there's this hairpin turn it would make a bobby pin look ridiculous.
I held my breath most of the way up (yeah I can do that as I really had to) once we got to the top, I almost cried as the scenery is so breathtaking, I felt like a grain of sand on the top of the mountain.
I don't know why girls/women always cry but we do. We took pictures and a lot of deep breaths in and out; a good sigh of relief.
On top of Grey Mountain we can see everything and it doesn't look that bad going down.
Once we were done, on our way down I never even thought of the height.
It only reminded me of this ... when we go through tough times we are afraid of the unknown, or where we may be heading has too many turns and you don't know what lies ahead.
Once we got to the top, you can see the big picture and it's not as bad you think.
In no time we were down and it didn't seem like it took us more than 10 minutes to get down but seemed like forever to get up there.
Birthday
Happy birthday for Monday Aug. 27th to Rachel Hansen. Rachel and baby are doing fine.
Only four weeks shy of her and Jeremy's daughter's birth. Lots of pink clothes and the excitement is beginning to fill the air. Big brother Xavier hugs and kisses his mommy's belly every day to give his little sister a hug and kiss.
Anyone else out there celebrating a birthday, we wish you all the best on your special day, sit back, relax and enjoy your day.

Grandchildren are truly a blessing which bring much happiness to a person.
So this comes to a close, and I'm not sure when the next time will be.. I may travel south again but fly this time and drive home. We'll see.
Thanks for dropping in and reading Bouquets and Chocolates. Until next time God bless you and take care ...
