FORT MCPHERSON - Summer temperatures have brought scores of families to the Abraham and Ada Stewart pool in Fort McPherson.
Jackie Pascal, who is the hamlet's recreation coordinator, said demand is so high the hamlet has begun "midnight swim" programs.
On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the pool is open from 10 to 11 for children, and then stays open until midnight for those 16 and over.
This is added to the regular daytime hours, which keep staff busy six days a week.
"Every day, it's packed full, from when it opens to when it closes," said Pascal. "It's pretty busy."
Pascal added the centre employs two people, who are trying their best to accommodate swimmers. The pool itself can hold 35 people at once, and often people must form a queue to be allowed inside.
While a bigger pool would be appreciated, Pascal said she has not approached council, because she feels it would be too expensive.
"We've got the multipurpose building coming, so maybe now is not the best time, maybe next year," she said.
