YELLOWKNIFE - Wednesday and Thursday were the most exciting days of the school year for elementary students across Yellowknife.

Those were the last day of classes for schools.

With schoolyard rhymes and rock songs dedicated to the last day of school, it's a moment that all students countdown to. Summer is around the corner, and it's time to plan what they're going to do.

"I'm going to visit my hometown," said Sara Howard a Grade 7 student at St. Joseph School.

"I'm looking forward to some r-and-r," Teale MacIntosh said. As a Grade 8 student from St. Joe's, she has something else to look forward to. The start of high school, she said.

"Sleepovers," kindergarten student Ethan Milkowski said excitedly of what he's looking forward to.

He's also looking forward to the next school year. "(I'm excited about) going to Grade 1."

William McDonald school students also had something to say about the end of school.

"I'm looking forward to wake boarding and going out on the lake," Dana Harris, from William McDonald school said.

"I'm excited for hanging out with friends and travelling to Africa," Daena Phypers said.
