YELLOWKNIFE - A man stole a $600 flat screen television from Roy's Audiotronic on April 11.
However, the man wasn't caught until April 13 because no one saw him take the television.
Ironically, said Const. Roxanne Dreilich, the television thief was caught red-handed on closed-circuit television. RCMP members recognized the person and subsequently arrested him.
Charges of shoplifting are being laid against a 39-year-old man.
Neighbourhood watch
Police are laying charges of driving while intoxicated against two people thanks to some tips from keen observers.
On the evening of April 14, a resident of an apartment complex observed a woman stumbling to her car.
The witness hopped into a car and followed the person while in contact with the RCMP. Police then arrested the 26-year-old driver.
Earlier the same day an off-duty RCMP member saw a driver swerving on the road. The officer called the police, and the driver was subsequently arrested.
Man harassed at work
Police are investigating a case of harassing phone calls after a 54-year-old man complained about calls received from a female co-worker. The man reported receiving multiple phone calls from a 43-year old woman.
The two are most likely involved in civil case, said Const. Roxanne Dreilich as they both have lawyers.
The woman had allegedly made repeated phone calls to the man at all hours of the day at home, on his cell phone, and at work.
The two have now agreed they will only speak through their lawyers. The woman was asked to leave the workplace although Dreilich could not confirm whether she was fired.
Woman turns in boyfriend
A 42-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after his girlfriend complained to police that he had stolen her car.
Police found the car downtown and returned it to the woman. Police then arrested the man after seeing he was wanted on an outstanding warrant. The girlfriend isn't laying any charges for taking the car.
