Fort McPherson (Nov 20/06) - It has been more than two weeks since Gary James Koe fell through the ice of the Peel River.
But the Fort McPherson man has not yet been found.
Hamlet mayor Rebecca Blake said community volunteers are scouring the sides of the river for the 27-year-old, who is believed to have fallen through the ice on Oct. 31.
The crash killed Koe's good friend Ernest William Francis, 31, who was riding on the same machine.
On Nov. 16, Blake said volunteers had briefly been delayed by high winds and cold temperatures.
But while RCMP have stopped looking for Koe, citing limited resources, Blake said volunteers are still hoping they'll find him.
"People have not been giving up," she said.
"It's been cold and there have been high winds, but I don't think that's going to change their resolve."
