Yellowknife (Oct 25/06) - A 24-year-old Yellowknife man has been charged with robbery in connection with the armed robbery of the Shell Service Station on Range Lake Road on Thursday, Oct. 12. His name was not released.

Meanwhile, an LCD projector worth $1,200 was stolen from a vehicle parked outside Range Lake North school over the weekend.

The theft occurred sometime between 6 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Police ask that anyone with information about the crime contact the Yellowknife RCMP detachment.

Carry your permits

Yellowknife RCMP responded to a report of careless use of a firearm near the Yellowknife River bridge last week.

The person in question did not have his firearm permits on him, and police initially seized his rifle and shotgun.

The weapons were returned to the owner after police gave him a verbal warning. No charges were laid.

Toys, here we come

When a five-year-old boy went missing last week from his Sissons Court home, police and the boy's parents searched the neighbourhood.

However, the boy was later found browsing the toy department at Wal-Mart with a seven-year-old friend.

They had apparently rode their bikes from their homes to the store.

Counterfeit alert

Employees at Pizza Hut turned up a counterfeit $20 bill in their cash drawers last week.

The bill could not be connected with any particular customer.

Liquor offences lead police calls

The Yellowknife RCMP detachment received a total of 411 calls for services between Oct. 10 and Oct. 22. Liquor Act offences lead the way with 102 calls followed by 93 for disturbing the peace.
