Busy holiday weekend for police

RCMP Const. Colleen Werrell said she hadn't compared the holiday weekend to others in the past, but with the St. Joseph school fire and other incidents, police were kept on their toes.

"It sounds like it was quite busy," she said.

Police responded to 222 complaints or calls to service, said Werrell.

Stealing liquor from the Elks

Two men, one 31, and the other 37, were caught stealing bottles of hard liquor from the Elks Club Aug. 4.

Both are charged with breaking and entering.

Police found the men inside the building after the alarm went off at approximately 3:20 a.m.

Man drunk in car

A 31-year-old man is charged with impaired control of a vehicle after being stopped by the municipal enforcement division, Aug. 2 in the downtown area.

Yellowknife RCMP were called in to assist at 8 p.m.

The man was charged because he failed a breath analysis.

"He was well over the limit," said Werrell.

The legal limit is 0.08mg of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.
