The government spent close to $90,000 to have a structural fault repaired. Additional work will be done to prevent water seepage and dramatic soil shifting under the building, said Dave Richardson, assistant deputy minister of health and social services. The additional costs to ensure the health facility remains stable haven't yet been determined. The problem, detected during a building inspection, had forced the department to offer clinical services from Sanikiluaq's school for a few weeks. The three nurses and social worker moved into a motel during the interim period. They have since been able to return to their apartments in the health centre, which was constructed in the late 1980s.
