Iqaluit (Jun 05/06) - An Iglulik man convicted of seven counts of sexual assault will spend two years in an Ontario prison.
Simeonie Issigaitok pleaded guilty May 28 to the charges stemming from incidents that occurred in Hall Beach and Iglulik from 2002 to 2004.
Issigaitok's victims ranged in age from eight to 13. In addition to prison time, he is banned from owning firearms for 15 years and ordered to provide police with a DNA sample.
He has been placed on the national sex offenders registry for 20 years.
The two years are on top of the 27 months he has already spent in jail awaiting trial.

Names of drowned Kugluktuk men released
RCMP in Kugluktuk have released the names of two men they believe drowned during a hunting trip last month.
Lenny Hikomak, 33, and Gregory Havioyak, 21, were on a snowmobile that went through the ice. Searchers found the snowmobile, but not the riders.
Hikomak was a father of six and Havioyak had just returned from school in Ottawa, said Cpl. Denise Keatley of the Kugluktuk RCMP.
Keatley said a memorial service for Havioyak was set for the weekend.
