Inuvik (May 05/06) - The band Poor Tom can be seen entertaining crowds at Frosty's on the weekend, but during the day the three musicians can be found at the Northmart.

Trevor Young, Justin Kelly and Ed Costigan each moved to Inuvik to work for the Northmart last year, and ended up forming a band that could rival Inuvik's best.

"I came here for work in July 2005, and started to play music for Frosty's," explained Young.

Young plays guitar, and started playing acoustic at the pub by himself.

"I asked them if I could play for the crowd there, and it went well," said Young.

Frosty's soon wanted a house band that could play for the crowds. That sent Young on a hunt for new musicians.

"I met up with Ed, and we started playing together, alternating the drums between the two of us," said Young.

Young and Costigan had been playing music for a few months before Kelly arrived in December 2005.

The guys chose the name Poor Tom, after a Led Zeppelin song.

"I get some of my musical influence from Zeppelin," said Young.

Costigan said he enjoys listening to a lot of 1990s rock and roll, with influences like the Tragically Hip and the Foo Fighters.

Young said playing music in bars is something that he has done for some time.

"We just love a good crowd," said Young.

The band can be seen at Frosty's pub on Friday and Saturday nights until closing.
