Yellowknife (Jan 27/06) - The Catholic School Board will see a budget surplus in the next month said board superintendent, Kern Von Haggen.

This comes after the board was showing an $18,600 deficit for the month of January.

"That was a statement for the past month. We expect to be in the surplus position next month," he said.

The money comes from agreements the board has with the Union of Northern Workers and the Northwest Territories Teacher's Association, said Mike Huvenaars, board superintendent of business.

"We made conservative estimates of the agreements. It was not in our December report because we got the money in January," said Huvenaars.

The Catholic board also receives funding from Heritage Canada to support french language programming.

Huvenaars said that overall, the board has received $100,000 extra funding.
