Iqaluit (Dec 22/05) - Iqaluit RCMP have charged a 27-year-old Iqaluit man with arson in connection to the fire that destroyed St. Judes cathedral in November.

Litanie Pitsulak also faces charges of break and enter and possession of stolen property in connection with the Nov. 5 fire.

Religious artifacts -- narwhal tusks from the cross and a soapstone baptismal font -- went missing during the blaze.

Pitsulak appeared in territorial court on Dec. 22. He is scheduled for another court appearance on Jan. 10 at 9 a.m. Until then, the suspect has been held in remand.
