Yellowknife (Sep 16/05) - An Arctic Sunwest Beech 99 aircraft with landing gear problems landed at the Yellowknife airport Tuesday evening around 7:20 p.m. under the watchful eyes of airport staff and firefighters.
The firefighters from both the airport and Yellowknife fire department were called to stand by for the aircraft when one of its landing wheels jammed, Chucker Dewar of the Yellowknife fire department said.
Michel LaFrance, airport manager, said the aircraft first flew by the tower for a visual inspection before landing.
"They were able to resolve the issue, however, and get the wheel down, so they landed with no problem.
"It was a very minor event," LaFrance said.
"The plane landed safely with three people on board," Dewar added.
