14 impaired driving complaints in two weeks

Yellowknife (June 01/05) - Yellowknife RCMP responded to 431 requests for service between May 16-29.

In that time, three residential break and enters were reported. Two of the cases remain under investigation.

Five complaints were received about illegal drugs. Three regarded marijuana and two involved cocaine.

Three complaints of sexual assault were received.

Forty-three assault complaints were received, of which 38 were common assaults and five were assaults with a weapon.

Police received 62 complaints regarding persons causing a disturbance in a public place.

RCMP were called out 14 times for impaired driving complaints. Three of these complaints led to charges.

Police responded to two motor vehicle accidents involving damage under $1,000.

Three complaints were received regarding stolen vehicles. One was unfounded. One vehicle was recovered with no damage, while the other vehicle has not been located at this time.

Fourteen tickets were issued in relation to traffic offences.

Shoplifting was on the police list 23 times.
