Pipeline group comes together

Inuvik (Dec 10/04) - With the aim of bidding to build the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline, the Gwich'in Development Corporation (GDC) and six "leading construction companies" have formed the Mackenzie Aboriginal Corporation (MAC).

Joining the GDC are Flint Energy Services Ltd., Ledcor Industries Inc., Midwest Management Ltd., North American Pipeline Inc., Pentastar Energy Services Ltd. and Peter Kiewit Sons Co.

According to a company press release, those entering the deal with the GDC, "represent a significant portion of the contracting capacity in Western Canada."

In addition, MAC is touted as being, "Uniquely positioned to offer distinct benefits to the Mackenzie Gas Project and to its aboriginal and industry participants."

MAC is 51 per cent Gwich'in-owned. The other stakeholders control the remaining 49 per cent.
