Downtown disturbances

Yellowknife (Mar 10/04) - Police were called to 142 disturbances during the past reporting period within the downtown core.

The majority of these matters were liquor related offenses in which the individual(s) were interfering with either businesses or members of the general public.

Police responded to a number of reports of motor vehicle thefts over the past reporting period. All but one have been recovered.

Police are requesting the public's assistance in locating the following snowmobile that was stolen from the area of Beck Court: New Arctic Cat 900 Mountain Cat long track. Green/grey and black in colour. Plate# 9291.

A 36-year-old male has been charged for assault with a weapon following an incident at a residence in Yellowknife on Feb 23, 2004. The male is charged with assaulting a female with a weapon after allegedly cutting her on her forearm during an altercation.

Indecent act

On Feb. 28, 2004, police responded to a complaint of a 30- to 40-year-old male sitting in a vehicle in the Range Lake Rd. area committing an indecent act. Immediate patrols were made, however, the suspect vehicle was not located. The vehicle was described as a burgundy-coloured Pontiac 6000, early '90s model. Police are asking people to report any sightings of similar incidents.

Police are presently investigating three separate hit-and-run motor vehicle accidents (two in Yellowknife Centre and one in Frame Lake).
