Yellowknife (Feb 13/04) - For the first time in Yellowknife's history, anyone interested in becoming a breath practitioner will have the opportunity to do so.

Dan Brule, a world leader in breath coaching, is landing in the city Feb. 25, to conduct level 1 training in the field of breathing.

Lone Sorensen, owner of Global Inspirations, said there is only one other business in Canada offering such training and she is thrilled Brule is making the trip North.

"He is one of the very best there is," said Sorensen.

The workshops begin Feb. 26 and run until March 2.

It will include teachings on different techniques used to reducing stress and tension, calm nerves, and increase self awareness.

About eight years ago, Sorensen said she was introduced to the healing powers of breathing and said it came at a time when she needed it most.

"I was looking for something that would bring me out of stress and bring the simple pain out of my body," she said.

"It has changed my life. I realized I do have a lot of say in my own life."

Brule is part of the Breathing Work Training Alliance which is making quite a name for itself in countries like Australia, Russia and Estonia.

Sorensen said the main idea is to encourage real, natural breathing, which people tend to get away from as they get older.

"A deep breath is breathing you do with your whole body," she said.

"We have forgotten to be at home with ourselves."
