Ian Adam Kirby, 59, appeared with lawyer Kelly Payne for a five minute hearing in front of a justice of the peace.
He was ordered to remain in police custody until his next court date, Oct. 14 at 9:30 a.m. in territorial court.
Kirby is charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of his wife, Betsy Kalaserk-Kirby, 29. Her body was found early last Tuesday afternoon.
Police arent saying how Kalaserk-Kirby died, but RCMP Insp. Paul Richards said it may have been a result of a domestic dispute.
Neighbours report hearing raised voices coming from the couples ground floor apartment on the corner of 52 Avenue and 49 Street on several occasions.
Richards said police were continuing their investigation.
