Nominations opened Monday for 19 constituencies in the NWT.
Returning officers will accept nominations until Friday at 2 p.m.
Barb Paquin, communications officer at Elections NWT, said residents can expect election propaganda to start popping up all over the city.
"Candidates can put signs in any electoral district they want," said Paquin. However, in the Elections Act there is a provision that signs cannot be posted on polling stations.
As of Tuesday, nominations have been filed by Joe Handley for Weledeh, Roger Allen and Clarence Wood for Inuvik Twin Lakes, Bill Aho for Kam Lake, Michael Miltenberger for Thebacha and Don Kindt for Yellowknife Centre.
Other nominees who have filed papers are Brendan Bell for Yellowknife South, Vince Steen for Nunakput, Charles Dent for Frame Lake, Sandy Lee for Range Lake and Leon Lafferty for North Slave.
In order to be eligible for candidacy, an individual must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age on or before polling day, and a resident of the NWT for at least 12 months before polling day.
A nomination paper must be filed with the returning officer indicating the intent to seek election.
Candidates may withdraw their nominations any time before Fri., Oct. 31 at 5 p.m.
