Bolduc convicted

Coppermine (Sep 22/03) - A former Kugluktuk hamlet councillor was convicted of one count of sexual assault and received a two year conditional sentence last week.

Gordon Bolduc was sentenced, in Kugluktuk territorial court on Sept. 17. He was originally charged on Nov. 20, 2002 with seven counts of sexual assault, four counts of indecent assault and five counts of buggery. The incidents occurred over a 30 year span and involved three men.

Bolduc pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault. Fifteen charges have been stayed.

He will now spend eight months under house arrest and after that he will have to adhere to a curfew for another eight-month term. Bolduc has also been ordered to avoid alcohol and serve 150 hours of community service.
