The accused's sister and her spouse posted the bail and Elias will live with them in Fort Smith.
His preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 24 to 26 in Tuktoyaktuk where the incident occurred.
In the meantime, Supreme Court Justice T.P. O'Connor said Elias is forbidden from consuming alcohol or going to licensed establishments.
He must submit to random alcohol testing and will report daily in person to the Fort Smith RCMP station.
He cannot leave Fort Smith and, without exception, must abide by a curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 p.m.
O'Connor also strongly recommended to the Fort Smith RCMP that they conduct visits (daily, if possible) to his home in the evenings at random times. This suggestion is aimed at ensuring Elias is abiding by his conditions, especially the curfew and the alcohol prohibition, said O'Connor.
Elias cannot contact two people involved in the case and is forbidden from possessing weapons.
