Yellowknife (June 25/03) - Justin Hai Van Vo was last seen in a downtown alley, heading towards the Diner on the day he died, according to the RCMP.

His smouldering body was found several hours later on June 16 near the Yellowknife River.

RCMP officers went door to door questioning people in downtown apartment buildings and businesses about anything they saw.

One officer stood in the alley behind Northern News Services on Friday and Monday morning, asking passers-by and motorists if they had seen anything. They also stood outside The Right Spot bar questioning people all day June 20.

Vo had a date in court for the day after he was murdered.

The 35-year old man was charged with 10 offences, including possession of crack cocaine, possession of a sawed off .22 rifle and possession of less than $5,000 obtained by crime.

Court records show Vo was sentenced to six months in jail in 2001 for trafficking cocaine.

Police aren't releasing results of a preliminary autopsy that might show how Vo died.
