About 150 construction workers, contractors, firefighters, electrical inspectors and others took part in the Seven Steps to Electrical Safety workshop.
"We're not trying to put the fear of God in the public with the graphic displays but we want to let people know electricity is a great invention if used properly but if used improperly and in haste it can be dangerous," said Allen Mueller, consumer service manager with Northland Utilities.
The display included graphic photographs and a demonstration about what can happen when certain objects come into contact with an electrical line.
City of Yellowknife foreman Richard Beck had all his workers attend one of the two information sessions.
"It's a great asset for all our workers. It's very beneficial for everyone working with electricity," said Beck.
Reg Croizier said safety reminders are always welcome.
"I'm always near electricity with my job, so you are conscious of electricity, but it's a good reminder that you always have to be aware and careful around it," said Crozier, who works for the NWT Power Corporation.
