The national competition, designed to reduce the number of Canadians who drive to work alone, asks participants commit to walk, cycle, in-line skate, take a bus or carpool. Working from home -- tele-commuting -- is also encouraged.
The Commuter Challenge runs until June 7.
Participants can report their alternative transportation usage at www.commuterchallenge.ca.
A database will calculate the amount of pollution that was avoided during the week.
