A 21-year-old has been charged with aggravated assault. The incident occurred during the early evening hours of March 16.
Sgt. Kurt Lozinski of the Fort McPherson RCMP detachment said both parties were drinking and an argument broke out prior to the stabbing.
Officers arrived on the scene to find the victim covered in blood, but still conscious. He was immediately medevaced to Inuvik Regional Hospital for treatment.
"It was a serious injury. There was substantial blood loss but the victim is in stable condition," said Lozinski.
The RCMP have received information that the relationship between the victim and Dillon "was volatile," said Lozinski. But he added it's too early in the investigation to confirm or deny whether this was a case of self-defence.
The accused has been released from police custody but has been ordered by a justice of the peace to abstain from consuming alcohol. She must also refrain from contacting the victim in any way.
The woman's next court appearance is April 30 during the Fort McPherson sitting of territorial court.
