The Penny Lane Pub in the Mackenzie Hotel was just renovated and some new features were added to convert the pub into a full-on sports bar.
Bar manager Mark Millwater said he gave the old place a new makeover to welcome a new clientele.
"There isn't really a place to go and watch sports in town," Millwater said.
Penny Lane was more of a spill-over room from the Zoo, but since the renovations, Millwater said, the bar has been doing quite well with the new sports theme.
The renovations started in January and finished last week. The grand opening was held Monday night.
The pub now has a 57-inch television, a pool table, foosball, video golf and other video games and an air hockey table. There are four televisions now, but they have five more ordered.
"We also have two satellite receivers, so we can play two different hockey games or baseball games at once," Millwater told The Drum.
The dart boards are back up and they plan to get some organized tournaments going soon and are looking for people interested in league play.
The pub has its own entrance off the back of the hotel, with a new parking area.
"We just bought the land in the back, so it will be gravelled and there will be a parking lot in there," he said.
The pub will also have a membership club that offers members special prices, prize draws and free admission for pay-per-view events.
"The first Monday of every month we'll have a grand prize draw," said Millwater.
"This Monday it was a trip for two hockey lovers package to Edmonton."
