The Inuvik Chapter of Ride for Sight is celebrating it's 25th anniversary this June. And because local residents have been so generous in helping them raise money to fight blindness, this is their chance to give back to the community.
"This event is to have people come out and celebrate our success, especially last year where we raised over $38,000, and to just have fun," said Leonard Adams, vice-chair of the Inuvik chapter.
The Biker's Ball is a first for Inuvik. The event organizers, local biker enthusiasts, are hoping everyone will dress up for the event. And don't forget the accessories, such as helmets, leather vests and silver-buckled leather belts.
"They can dress up how they feel.
"They can wear their rolled-up T-shirts with the old '50s thing going. It'll be kinda cool," said Mike Whiteside.
And be sure to get your dancing/biker boots on to get down to a variety of classic biker tunes.
"There will be some rock n' roll, Harley Davidson road songs, and southern rock from around the '60s and '70s," said Whiteside.
The event will also feature some biker games, such as the plank ride and dart throw.
Bicycles will replace motorcycles, since the event will be held inside the Midnight Sun Recreation Centre. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.
"We're looking at a putting competition through a wheel and a carburettor, a card throw into the biker helmet, stuff like that," said Whiteside.
"We want to give people a taste of the biker life and maybe we can get some new members out of it too," adds Liz Adams.
