RCMP said a man raged through a Wha Ti home during the early morning hours of Aug. 12, causing extensive damage, including busting out every window in the home.
A woman first contacted RCMP just before 1 a.m., claiming the man "was going crazy" and destroying his father's residence.
When police arrived, the suspect was seen fleeing through the back door and disappeared.
A short time later another woman called to report the man had returned to the home and appeared to have a gun in his possession, which he then used to smash out all the windows.
Reinforcements were called in from the Yellowknife RCMP detachment to assist the sole Wha' Ti officer. The suspect was eventually found hiding under a tarp inside a wooden shed, about a kilometre from the community.
Police said in court last week they noticed signs the man was intoxicated and he admitted to police that he had been drinking from a bottle of aftershave.
A 32-year-old man has been charged with mischief, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and obstruction of justice.
He is being held in custody until his September court appearance.
