"Gates open at 10 a.m. and if they want to be in the prime spots, like showline centre, plan to be there by 11 or 11:30 a.m. to stake out a spot," says Tissot van Patot. "Personally, I'd say be there at 10."
At least 5,000 people are expected to turnout for the show.
"That's pretty standard," she says. "We normally get between 5,000 and 6,000 people."
While many people attending the air show will be from Yellowknife, air shows traditionally attract tourists, says Tissot van Patot.
"The Snowbirds and SkyHawks are a big draw," she says.
Tissot van Patot says international travellers have heard of the Snowbirds and most jump at a chance to see them live.
One new aspect of the show this year: tighter security.
"There will be handbag inspection so if people are entering the showground, their bags will be searched. No hardside coolers, no weapons, no alcohol are allowed. Air shows are good clean fun."
Tissot van Patot also recommends being sun-safe to those who attend.
"Wear a hat, sunscreen, bring something to drink," she says. "Come on out and have a great day."
The air show is scheduled to begin at about 1 p.m. Besides the Snowbirds and SkyHawks, people will be able to see a number of other acts and planes including the Vintage 1929 Fokker Super Universal Airplane, civilian and military aircraft on the ground, and a comedy routine put on by an international cadet airplane.
