Rae (Oct 01/01) - A suspect has been charged after RCMP searched a house in Rae, seizing drugs, drug paraphernalia and large amounts of cash.
The man, who is originally from Yellowknife, has been ordered to appear in territorial court in Rae on Nov. 21.
On Sept. 21 a search warrant was issued under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the house in Rae was entered by police.
RCMP found $4,880 in cash, about 230 grams of marijuana, scales and other drug paraphernalia. The street value of the drugs seized is estimated by police to be worth about $5,600.
The man has also been charged with the unlawful sale of liquor under municipal bylaw. Rae is a restricted community and police found 23 mickey bottles of vodka on the premises.
The man was released from custody on a promise to appear in court on the liquor and drug charges.
Charges include trafficking in a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.
