Yellowknife (Sep 12/01) - A bail hearing for Walter Lothar Ebke has been scheduled for Sept. 14 in the NWT Court of Appeal.

Ebke's defence tried to have the hearing on Sept. 10 but the Crown wasn't prepared.

"Another few days I don't think is unreasonable," said Justice Virginia Schuler.

Ebke was released on bail for 16 months after he was initially arrested on a provisional arrest warrant last year.

However, he has been in custody since Sept. 6 after a committal order was put in place at the reading of his extradition decision. He is appealing the court's latest ruling approving extradition upon the final decision of the federal minister of justice.
