Yellowknife (Feb 23/01) - Telephones in the city will be ringing off the hook over the next few weeks.
An Edmonton-based telephone survey company will soon be contacting 800 Yellowknifers to seek opinions about city services and where taxpayers dollars should be spent. The survery was identified in the 2001 budget.
"They're going to ask 'how satisfied are you with street cleaning, snow removal, how do you like your quality of life' and all those sorts of things," said director of corporate services Tim Mercer.
The firm, Criterion of Edmonton, was awarded a $25,000 contract to conduct the survery. Mercer said two local firms were asked to bid on the tender but neither did.
The surveyers will randomly select residents from the telephone book and contact them during evening hours over a two-week period beginning in early March.
