NNSL (Aug 12/98) - St. John Ambulance will be looking to the highest bidder this weekend as they host an art auction.
Nancy Heimbach, director of the St. John Ambulance Auxiliary in Yellowknife, says the evening will be done up right.
"It's going to be a steak and lobster dinner," she says. "We're having lobster flown in from the east coast for the event."
The evening's events will also include two art auctions -- one silent and one live auction. Items have been donated by Northern Images and include a wide variety of pieces.
Among the items which will be up for sale are a print by Northern artist Archie Beaulieu, a number of photographs, sweatshirts, and jewellery.
The St. John Ambulance is a volunteer-driven organization which offers first aid courses at all levels to people from all walks of life. Auxiliary members also donate their time in the community by manning first-aid stations at many community events, including everything from concerts to festivals. This weekend's event is a fundraiser for the auxiliary.
Tickets for the event are on sale now at the St. John Ambulance offices on 51st Street at a cost of $40.
The art auction, dinner, and dance will get under way Saturday night at the Elk's Hall at 7 p.m.
